It's a journey where recycled wine barrel wood transforms into culinary wonders, where sustainability meets art, and where the spirit of each creation resonates with the rich heritage of the Barossa Valley, South Australia. Join us on this odyssey, where craftsmanship and nature dance in harmonious celebration, giving life to pieces that are truly one of a kind.
The Process
SOURCE: After collecting the wine barrels from our local wineries, we set to work by breaking the barrels apart and letting them air dry. We then set to work sorting all the different sized staves and barrel heads into product groups.
MAKE: We then start the process of cutting, planing, drilling, gluing, sanding and clamping each design. Most designs spend about 48 hours in the clamps before we begin working on them again. Once we feel the design is finished we begin the branding process.
BRAND: To do this we fire up the burner and place the branding iron on the open flame waiting for it to heat up before we set to hand brand each product.
OIL: One we’ve completed the brand, we give the product a final sand, a quick vacuum and then we take it over to our oiling station where we finish off each design with canola oil. We then let the designs dry for a couple of days before they get sent out to you.
